The NSM 400 is the latest innovationin the SOMAG Mount portfolio and a medium-sized device between RSM 400 and OSM 4000. With a mounting space of Ø409 mm the gyro stabilization platform offers space for antennas, radars and a wide range of sensor systems.
Because Gyro Stabilization makes a difference
The NSM 400 stabilizes in real-time pitch and roll movements of ground and rail vehicles caused by uneven terrain. It also compensates the angular motions of boats, ships, Unmannes Surface Vessels (USVs/ASVs) and buoys caused by waves.
Especially EO/IR systems must be able to detect moving objects from a distance and under rough weather and water conditions. Mounted without stabilization the data acquistion of these units is adversely affected by rotational movements of the vessel. SOMAG AG Jena's NSM 400 actively balances vessel movements which drastically reduces motions of the sensor ensuring a stabilized and sharp field of view for perfect situational awareness. The stabilization thus ensures perfectly aligned images and high-quality data capturing.
External data for best performance
The gimbal works automatically and independently due to its internal gyros. It can also process external ship data (NMEA frames) or IMU data, which improves the residual deviation performance for long term applications. An operation 24/7 is possible.
Robust and powerful unit
The NSM 400 features a hydraulic gimbal system which can provide a peak torque of 350 Nm. The high torque ensures the Mount performance even in harsh environments. Like all SOMAG marine and land devices, the NSM 400 complies with IP 67 standard.
First SOMAG Gyro Stabiliation Mount with Ethernet interface
The NSM 400 is the first SOMAG Mount to offer an Ethernet interface which makes the device network compatible and offers a remote access. The installation in difficult accessible places, such as on masts, cuases no problems. For this kind of applications SOMAG provides power cables with a length of up to 30 meters.
