Using a SOMAG Passive Vibration Isolation Ring (PaVIR) lowers the risk of damage to sensitive sensors significantly and increases the data quality. PaVIR: Passive Vibration Isolation Ring Explained

The PaVIR is a passive mechanical damping system engineered to reduce vibration before it reaches sensitive sensor equipment. It uses various materials and elements to interrupt the vibration path between the platform and the payload. This system is unique on its own because it has to be tailored to each individual solution, mounting system and stabilization mount.

Unlike active systems, the PaVIR requires no power, no software, and no calibration—it’s reliable and rugged. The frequency of maintenance intervals and the longevity of the system vary depending on the individual solution and application, but are low in general.

High-frequency vibrations of the aircraft floor can lead to severe damage to the sensitive sensor ­systems. By using a SOMAG Passive Vibration Isolation Ring (PaVIR), vibrations are drastically reduced which increases the data quality especially for scanners, LiDAR’s and cameras. For the GSM 5000 [LS1] and DSM 400, the PaVIR is part of the standard scope of delivery and adjusted accordingly to the weight of the payload. For the CSM, the ring can be ordered optionally. The rings are also available individually. We can easily adapt these to your special requirements and specific weight. Accordingly, we also design damper cuboids such is for the Riegl LMS Q680i. All PaVIRs ensure an easy exchangeability.
