On February 3rd 2020 the annual general meeting of the community of interest of the industrial areas in the south of Jena (Interessengemeinschaft Gewerbegebiete Jena-Süd e.V. (IGJS for short) took place.
SOMAG AG Jena CEO Andreas Steps was newly elected to the board. The current board consists of Andreas Steps (SOMAG AG Jena), Wilfried Opitz (Autohaus Reichstein & Opitz GmbH), Dr. Fred Grunert (ams Sensor Germany GmbH) and board spokesman Frank Heuer (Ingenieurbüro Heuer). Steps is replacing Dr. Jürgen Meyer (LASOS Lasertechnik GmbH), who resigned from his position on the IGJS board.
"As SOMAG AG Jena, we have been a member of IGJS since 2016 and have been actively involved in the exchange with the other member companies ever since. I am now looking forward to the new exciting task as a member of the board and to the cooperation with my fellow board members", comments Steps on his election.
The IGJS is the community of interests of the four southern industrial estates of Jena and represents about 100 companies. The main objective of the IGJS members is to represent the position of the business community vis-à-vis the public authorities. Priorities in this respect are especially the infrastructure planning concerning the industrial estates in the south of Jena. In addition, the IGJS enables its members to get to know each other better through regular business meetings, to create a relationship of information and the basis for cooperation and partnerships.
New events are already planned for 2020. On 05 May, the IGJS is inviting to an event on the subject of energy system transformation at the municipal utilities.
